The Demo Room is Galleri Image’s round-the-clock exhibition window facing the busy street Vestergade. Since 2003, The Demo Room has housed works and exhibitions by contemporary artists working in a wide variety of disciplines, such as photography, painting, video, sound, computer and installation art. The modest size of the space demands a great deal of creativity and ingenuity on the part of the exhibiting artists.
While The Demo Room is primarily considered a creative space, where up-and-coming Danish and international artists have the opportunity to create exhibitions in small formats, The Demo Room has also housed works by a long list of renowned Danish artists such as Katja Bjørn, Christian Vind, Julie Stavad, Søren Asselholt, Lea Porsager, Lasse Krog Møller, Jane Jin Kaisen and Signe Klejs.
The space has also been the home of several ambitious curatorial projects, such as Demo by the artists Sophia Ioannou Gjerding and William Kudahl in 2019 and Call & Response, curated by Pamela Grombacher from 2020 to 2021 in a collaboration with the AirSpace Gallery, Stoke-on-Trent (UK). The Demo Room currently functions as an extension of the current exhibition in Galleri Image, displaying works that can be experienced outside the gallery’s regular opening hours.
