THE OTHER SHORE
Artist:
NIKITA PIROGOV
The immediate elements and details of the world are the focus of the exhibition THE OTHER SHORE by the young Russian-born artist Nikita Pirogov. Through photography and video the artist presents the viewer with his intuitive vision of the world, inviting him or her to become involved in a visual extermination of the relationship between the psyche, nature, and culture.

The thirty, or so, works all represents fleeting moments where time is in flux. Each work is presented as a visually close expression, converting the immediate 'everyday' into rounded and significant tableaux's. More or less explicit components are repeated, creating a criss-cross relationship between the works. The overall narrative thus constantly runs back and forth, breaking any prospective chronology, so that time and place merge. The aim is that the works should generate a particular visual poetry with the camera lens being used in place of a writing pen.

With THE OTHER SHORE some of the latest Russian contemporary art is put on display for a Danish audience, allowing them to gain insight to a burgeoning contemporary art scene
