Saturday the 27th of June Galleri Image is hosting a seminar on contemporary Chinese art featuring artist and associate professor at CAFA Fei Jun, the Art reporter Pei Yan, and the Chinese photographer, performance and video artist Liu Jin.

The event will be in English. Admission is free.

Programme
Liu Jin: Insights into a contemporary Chinese art practice
photographer, performance and video artist Liu Jin talks about his artistic practice, which involves both more traditional methods like sculpture and analog photography as well as performance interventions in the public sphere and video. His DIVA-residency in Denmark is targeted at creating a new artistic project, which focuses on a modern, personal interpretation of Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tales.

Pei Yan: When Chinese Traditional Art Meet New Media
New media has become a driving force for the art creation of today. How does it affect traditional Chinese art? Combining old techniques and new media technology, some Chinese artists from a younger generation are exploring the possibilities that new media art may bring to the contemporary transformation of traditional Chinese art. 

Fei Jun: Multi media developments on the contemporary Chinese art scene. Artist and professor Fei Jun presents a selection of works from his artistic practice and will discuss topics regarding the influence of new media in Chinese contemporary art.

Fei Jun is associate professor at China Central Academy Of Fine Arts, CAFA. Fei Jun holds an MFA in Electronic Integrated Art from Alfred University’s School of Art and Design in New York. His art and design work has been exhibited nationally and internationally in galleries, museums and festivals. His main research areas are digital art, interactive art, interface design, interaction design and digital publishing. He is particularly interested in the intersection of virtual space and physical space. His recent research has focused on creating locative social media for public engagement. He has also been exploring the value of virtual labor and interactive systems for empowering sustainability.

Pei Yan has graduated as Master of Arts Management from the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA). She is the reporter of a Chinese periodical where she writes about international multimedia art. She has among other things been writing analytically about the Chinese art market and China´s art scene. Pei Yan has been also involved in several art projects between Denmark and China.

Liu Jin is born in the Jiangsu Province in China and is a graduate of the Department of Arts and Crafts at Jiangsu Xuzhiu Engineering Institute in 1995. He works with globally relevant issues like nationality, identity, technological advancements, and the status of the individual in society within a broad artistic field including photography, painting, sculpture, and performance - frequently in the form of interventions in the public sphere. His artistic praxis gathers its subject matter from the cultural intersection between western and Chinese culture. May and June Galleri Image is hosting Liu Jin for a DIVA residency program.
