Danish Maja Ingerslev’s contribution to FRESH EYES represents an insider's view, as Ingerslev is the only visual artist participating in the project that both lives and works in Aarhus. Ingerslev's work on the FRESH EYES project extended a full year as she visually manipulated the seasonal transformation of the natural landscape in and around Aarhus with subtle evocative interventions.
Her work is site-specific, located in nature, and approximating to the land art genre. Delicate paper formations of running streams, snow drifts, flowers, roots, and feathers are inserted into landscapes whose rough surfaces and rugged environs are in stark contrast to the smooth whiteness and fragile materiality of the paper. By placing the characteristic three dimensional paper cuttings in the landscapes Ingerslev provides the viewer with a new perspective on nature as a poetic call to reflection and contemplation.
