Save the date! Photobook Week Aarhus 2019: 3 - 6 October

This year's Photobook Week Aarhus (PWA) will take place from 3 - 6 October. Save the date this fall and look forward to 4 days filled with talks, book market and exhibitions! 

Photobook Week Aarhus 2019 will offer an interesting programme, in which Danish and international guest-experts will examine the theme "Flatness", through explorations of the page as a flat space, pop-up books, foldable maps and other techniques that defy the flatness of the page. The festival's remaining programme will include a retrospective examination of the legendary exhibition "New Topographics: Photographs of a Man-Altered Landscape" and its lasting effect on landscape photography, as well as curated exhibitons of Portuguese and Chilean photobooks, and an exhibition with the "Asia 8", eight winners of the Steidl Book Award in collaboration with the Singapore International Photo Festival.

Photobook Week Aarhus 2019 will be the 6th edition of the festival, which is a collaboration between Galleri Image and Aarhus School of Architecture. This year, PWA is part of Art Weekend Aarhus. Photobook Week Aarhus represents a continuous study of the evolution and role of the medium. The festival is curated by national and international experts under the leadership of Chief Curator Moritz Neumüller and the curatorial team: Anne Elisabeth Toft, Beate Cegielska and Jesper Rasmussen.

PWA 2019 is supported by the Politiken Foundation,The Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Portugal's Embassy, and the City of Aarhus (Kulturudviklingspuljen).
